The birthday party was a success! I finished everything just in time to throw my little miss in her dress as the first guests arrived. Pictures soon to come.
In the meantime, here are some pretty purple things to ogle over. I was featured in another Treasury title, "Regal Purple" created by summeresque. Click on the photo to view the Treasury live and leave a comment if you so desire;)
This Treasury was also featured on a blog called S and O Productions. Every Tuesday they pull eight Treasuries they love and feature them on their site. I am excited to keep following their blog and let someone else comb through the hundreds of Treasuries. They have pretty great taste;)

Birthday Inspirations and Etsy Giveaway
Yes, it is almost 1:30 EST. I took a three hour nap after I put my daughter to bed tonight and cannot shutdown this brain of mine. I have a giant "To-do" list for two things: 1) my daughter's birthday party, and 2) my Etsy site holiday inventory. So it only makes sense for me to blog about it instead of work on it. Right?
#1 My little girl is turning one in just a few weeks. I have tossed around about 100 ideas for her party. I have really enjoy the theoretical part of planning her party. Now that I am actually starting to work on things, I am realizing why so many parents book the local Chuck-E-Cheese. I will skip the greasy pizza and swine flu ridden play equipment this year:) Instead, I am going to have a little party at home with a girly woodland forest theme. My inspirations:
I am trying to keep things simple so the day is about my little girl and not just a party. Wish me luck! I think the first birthday party for your first child is a little overboard no matter what you do.
#2 By Black Friday I hope to triple my Etsy site holiday inventory. To get things rolling, I thought I would have my second shop giveaway. In honor of "Turkey Day" I am giving away this pheasant feather headband:
To enter, leave me a message telling me about your favorite item(s) or what you would like to see on my site. You can either leave a comment here or use the Convo feature on my Etsy site. I will randomly select the winner the day before I stuff myself with pumpkin pie smothered in real whipped cream.

New outlet
Yes, I abandoned this blog for awhile. Why? I started decluttering my brain by making crafts for an Etsy site. It has been therapeutic. I have added a link to my site on the right.
Recently, I was featured in an Etsy treasury (second row, second column) created by this awesome blogger and Etsy seller. Check out the full thing here. Leave a comment if you like her Treasury and maybe it will make it to the front page of Etsy.

This was the other Treasury I was featured in (third row, first column) that has since expired, but I wanted to post it for those who missed it.

And so blog...I will try to maintain you better with my inspirations.

Can't get this song out of my head...
~FOR YOU DAD B/C YOU MISSED IT!~
This past weekend we went camping. The final Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Detroit Red Wings game was also that evening. I think everyone was listening to the game in the campground. Simultaneous bursts of cheering were heard multiple times throughout the night.
As the game drew to a close, several of our campers crowded around a car radio (I listened as I cleaned up the campsite to help keep a giant raccoon away). I am proud to say that we now live in the home of the current SuperBowl and Stanley Cup champs. Too bad the Pirates don't have a chance of winning the World Series;)
Bryant listened to ESPN radio during our drive home the next morning as I drifted in and out of sleep. Just a few minutes away from home we heard this little gem on the radio, and for the life of me I can't get it out of my head.
Now, good luck getting it out of your head:)

If life were a musical...
RANDOM THOUGHT: The Tony's are on tonight. And although I do not follow theater at all, I enjoy the performances. Plus, watching the Tony's reminds me of my mom. She loves musicals. In fact, to cheer me up during several emotional meltdowns in college my mom would say something to the effect of... "If life were a musical, people would break into spontaneous song and dance when problems arose." My life could have used a little song and dance this weekend.

Spring Cleaning
I don't know if it is all the spring cleaning I've been doing, but lately I have been really overwhelmed with a flood of thoughts, creative (or maybe not so creative) ideas, and nostalgic feelings. If it weren't for my daughter's restless nights, I undoubtedly would have insomnia because of my racing brain. I need some kind of outlet. Although my little one doesn't allow for much computer time, I decided to start a blog to give some life to these thoughts. Here's a smattering of today's brain clutter.
NOSTALGIA: With summer in full-swing, I keep thinking about the lazy summer days spent at my grandparents' homes. Two memories keep coming to mind: playing dress-up at Grandma K's house and twirling on Grandma Ford's chrome dining chairs during breakfast.
Even though Grandma K set aside a box of jewelry for us cousins to play with, we always ended up in her room putting on her jewelry and scarves. Her room was so inviting...lacy curtains, tons of sunshine, and black & white pics of our daddies as babies and young men. My dad is from a family of five boys! My favorite dress-up item were her vintage silk thread covered beads. I have decided I need a set. I couldn't find many on Etsy after a quick search, but these totally remind me of Grandma K (available here ).

My Grandma Ford passed away nearly three years ago and lately I have been thinking about my most found memories of her. I don't know if it is my liking of yummy food but I immediately think if her retro kitchen and all the time spent eating breakfast at her table. The memories of that room are so specific...dark brown cupboards with ornate brass knobs, funky brown and cream lanolim flooring, chrome breakfast chairs with green & white vinyl, heavy orange valences, the old fashioned washing machine in the adjacent laundry, and the hummingbird feaders and wind chimes at the corner of the kitchen nook.
I miss her...

CREATIVE IDEA: My husband and I met in Monterey, CA while studying marine biology and later honeymooned in nearby Carmel, CA. To keep those newly dating/married feelings alive, I decorated our room with photos from the beaches we frequented and the sea life we studied, arranged our seashell collections in glass jars and shadow boxes, and made blue curtains (blue = ocean...I know it's a stretch). After five years, our bedroom needs a pick-me-up. And what better to liven a room than a few yellow pillows. So I have ordered, received, and have these fabrics quietly sitting on my bedroom dresser...

THOUGHT: Carpenter ants have started to appear in my laundry room!! We live in a three story townhouse with a laundry situated behind a garage on the first floor. I hate that my laundry is in this room because 1) there have always been spiders in it, 2) it isn't well lit and I am pretty much afraid of the dark, 3) and until a year ago, there weren't blinds over the door window exiting to the back yard (see #2). Now with the carpenter ants my laundry piles will be getting a little bigger between loads. I have full blown anxiety every time I think about going in that room. They are nearly 1/2" long, black, and equipped with pincers. The soonest I could arrange a pest control inspection/consultation was Monday, so the past three days have been torture. I seriously have been having nightmares about these nervous little pests.
Speaking of sleep. It is late. Signing out...typos and all.
